We have an exciting opportunity for an International Shipping, Trade Compliance Specialist role in an Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing company. The business is committed to offering its clients the greenest products possible, enabling them to continuously reduce the environmental impact of the aviation sector. The International Shipping, Trade Compliance Specialist will be in charge of arranging domestic and international transportation for all international shipments.

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in business or a field closely related to the supply chain is required, as well as 5-7 years of experience in material coordination, logistics (including international logistics), compliance, auditing, or a related field. 
  • Certifications in LCB and CCS are preferred.
  • Practical ability to spot a challenge and be willing to discuss the best course of action with the manager.
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal and presentation skills, particularly when working with clients, as well as the capacity to collaborate in groups.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; capable of working in cross-functional teams.
  • Capability to thrive in high-pressure situations with short deadlines.
  • Have cross-cultural understanding and the ability to collaborate with colleagues worldwide.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is essential, and Chinese language proficiency is an asset.

 

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Keep track of shipments and customs clearance for orders that are produced or consolidated inside the facility.
  • When necessary, locate obstructions that would prevent shipping and remove them; if this is not possible, escalate the situation.
  • Organize logistics as a point of contact for brokers and forwarders for shipping lines, drayage services, and warehouses. This includes creating the paperwork required for these orders and managing the deliveries to the right people.
  • Ensure proper execution of these orders by overseeing the invoicing process and taking into account Letters of Credit and any other order restrictions.
  • Identify the orders associated with global shipping and/or affiliate business that should ship and invoice for a certain amount of time to assist in the creation of monthly forecasts.
  • Interact with affiliate locations to coordinate the consolidation of deliveries.
  • Tracking open orders and other communications in coordination with the supply chain team, sales, and other affiliates.
  • Collaborate with warehouses, brokers, and transportation providers to ensure streamlined procedures that are consistent with our company and products.
  • Assist the strategic supply chain in selecting vendors and negotiating competitive pricing for logistics services for specific orders.
  • Examining, approving, and managing letters of credit (LOC).
  • Review and keep track of the dates for orders requiring a LOC, such as a contract's last shipment date, the LOC's expiration date, and any other particular needs related to sales orders for international regions.
  • Control all parties involved in international freight, including all freight vendors, NMFC, customs, and others; this includes approving all freight invoices.
  • Accountable for carrying out all required visual compliance checks.
  • Administration of all ECCN, NAFTA, ADD, CVD, HTS, and other related processes, both internally and with outside vendors.
  • Responsible for the regular review of product classifications in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedules of the United States, Canada, and WCO as well as the classification of any new materials or products.
  • Ensures that screening procedures are properly configured in the ERP-System.
  • Ensure that Customs processes are documented and standardized to provide consistent service.
  • Control the company's customs brokerage procedure and conduct quarterly broker business reviews.
  • Take part in Customs inquiries and assist in putting together responses.
  • Manage and supervise the customs brokers to guarantee trade compliance.
  • Assist with routine audits, such as valuation, classification, and import taxes.
  • Work with the Strategic VP for Compliance initiatives to create, implement, and maintain procedures, training, and controls that are appropriate for Customs Compliance.
  • Contribute to the creation of the trade compliance audit program.
  • Establishing, reviewing, and continually enhancing SOPS and educating teams on new procedures.
