We have an exciting opportunity for a bilingual Food Technologist role in a China-based Food and Beverage Manufacturing company. It is a leading frozen food manufacturer with over 2 decades of global experience, known for specialized and authentic, ready-to-eat Asian cuisine tailored to modern North American tastes. They are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Food Technologist to join their product development team. This entry-level role will report to the R&D Manager and gain hands-on training across all stages of product development, from benchtop trials to commercialization.
Job Requirements:
- Native-level fluency in Mandarin Chinese and proficiency in English (required)
- Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field (preferred)
- 1–2 years of product development experience in the food manufacturing industry; experience with Asian frozen products is a plus
- Solid understanding of ingredient functionality, product evaluation, nutrition, food processing, microbiology, quality assurance, and market research
- Flexible availability based on operational needs
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Genesis labeling software or similar programs
- Ability to coach, train, and support team members effectively
- Must be able to commute or relocate to Chatsworth, CA
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Support product development including ingredient sourcing, sample preparation, testing, reformulation, plant trials, and labeling
- Prepare minor ingredients and monitor production adherence to R&D standards
- Create product specifications and standard operating procedures
- Conduct independent testing, data analysis, and BOM calculations
- Organize sensory evaluations for new and competitor products
- Coordinate plant trials with Production, QA, and Maintenance teams
- Maintain and stock the R&D test kitchen and workstations
- Troubleshoot technical issues to minimize production downtime
- Secure and manage formulation data and reports
- Stay informed on market trends and industry developments
- Address food quality concerns and perform other assigned duties
